One Church, Two Locations
Hickory Grove Baptist Church was established in 1955 with a vision to reach the people in the Hickory Grove community in east Charlotte. Beginning in an unused dairy barn, the church was from the very beginning focused on people. D.J. Abernathy, pastor early in the church beginnings, said the following at a building dedication in 1966:
"What shall our interest be in the future? It must be what it has always been, people. We must see them as the compassionate Savior saw them, and we must bring them into His presence at every opportunity."
This vision grew as Hickory Grove started a satellite location in northern Mecklenburg County in 1995. This body of Christ called Hickory Grove North Campus, celebrated its 10 year anniversary in March 2005, and is opening doors to over 2,000 worshipers each Sunday.
As Hickory Grove Baptist Church celebrated its 50 year anniversary in 2005, the church re-committed to loving people and reaching them with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.
So whether you live in Charlotte or Concord, Matthews or Mooresville, Ft. Mill or Lake Norman, we have a fellowship of caring believers at either of our campuses who want to get to know you, accept you, and love you. At Hickory Grove you can make friends through knowing your Real Friend, the Lord Jesus Christ.
