Hickory Grove Baptist Church is passionate about supporting the city of Charlotte and surrounding areas. HGBC's community involvement efforts fall under the umbrella of an initiative called "Love Our City." "Love Our City" is an initiative that deploys church leaders, members, and Sunday School classes to serve in local mission projects improving the homes of shut-ins, public school clean ups and school supply needs, local rehab houses, and partners with the Charlotte Christian Chamber of Commerce.

HGBC Marketplace and Business Initiative:

"I believe one of the next great moves of God is going to be through the believers in the workplace".
- Dr. Billy Graham.

"Indeed, as with first-century Christianity, it all begins in the marketplace, where the disciples of Jesus daily rub shoulders with the lost." - Bill McCartney, Promise Keepers, Anointed for Business

"In today's global community, the greatest channel of distribution for 'salt and light' is the business community . . . the marketplace." - Bill Pollard, Chairman, ServiceMaster

Hickory Grove Baptist Church is filled with people who have jobs or own their own business. It’s an extremely simple fact, but it’s one that is often overlooked and underutilized as an outlet to share the love of Christ. The secular marketplace can be a hostile environment that weighs heavy on a Christian’s heart. This initiative is designed to encourage and nurture these frustrations and mobilize the strength and encouragement that God provides.

In an effort to mobilize the church in the workplace, Hickory Grove Baptist Church is partnering with the Charlotte Christian Chamber of Commerce, Southern Evangelical Seminary, HGBC business owners, and various companies in the city of Charlotte. As a team, this initiative is designed to equip, connect, and mobilize entrepreneurs within our own congregation and the city of Charlotte to create new ventures that bring about gospel-centered transformation.

As part of this initiative, Hickory Grove Baptist Church has created a member Business Directory for church members to support the businesses within our own walls. Click here to download it!

HGBC Partners with Clearcreek Elementary School:

Several ministries from all ages and marital statuses have contributed time, effort, and financial resources to help Clearcreek Elementary kick-off the 2009 school year. The recreation ministry cleaned up and provided landscaping needs. The modern worship service "elevenAM" produced a school supply drive that provided over $200 in school supplies for kids that were not able to afford them. And the pastors of Hickory Grove Baptist Church cooked a meal for the teachers as they were preparing classrooms and lesson plans the week before the first day of school. HGBC will continue to support Clearcreek throughout the year with upcoming needs they may have.
